Njema Helena is a fashion company established in Nairobi, Kenya. It strives to create modern fashion with an African aesthetic for everyday life, while ensuring sustainable and fair production of all its products in Kenya.

It was founded in 2012 by Anne, Cecilia and Annika Ostman to honour their deceased daughter and sister, Helena, who had a strong connection with Kenya and a true appreciation for African artistry.

Njema in Swahili means good and Helena will forever be the good force that drives this venture forward.

With a focus on African fabrics and a “made in Africa” ethos we aim to create fashion items that will promote the endlessly inspiring African aesthetic and incorporate it with modern design for everyday wear. All our products are made in Kenya and strive to bring new skills and opportunities, fair employment, and sustainable solutions for Kenyan tradesmen, particularly female workers. By showing interest in our brand you are not only helping us honour Helena’s memory but also supporting the Invest in Africa principle.
